A late summer check-in

I feel guilty.

First of all, I’m alive. I’ve been in Frankfurt the last 3 weekends and it’s been a bit weird not traveling.

But I’ve been busy.

I’m up against some very tough deadlines at work and I’ve been writing around the clock. I’ve been trying to enjoy summer as much as possible, but it’s only been in between writing breaks.

I have 4 brand pieces I’m working on and they all have to be delivered to the printer by the end of the month.

That’s less than 2 weeks.

I don’t know how it will get done.

But it will.

My brain is in constant motion (which means I’m not sleeping much either).

Needless to say, in my downtime, I haven’t felt much like writing blog posts or looking at a computer screen.

So here’s a quick summary of my late summer activities.

My friends gave me an ice cream machine for my birthday. I’ve tried to make tasty vegan concoctions, but I’m the only one who thought they were tasty. So I bit the bullet and bought real sugar, cream, milk. So far, vanilla bean and mint chocolate chip have been a success. Cashew coconut with “date” caramel tasted like, well, frozen cashews, coconut milk and dates.

We had such a nice Sunday night lawn party, complete with a mini speaker on our fence and a little visitor who wanted to join (I assumed it was because of the music, but I guess it could’ve been because of the grill too). I made bread for the first time and it was delicious. The company, cool summer evening, food…everything was just perfect. I look forward to doing it again soon.

Green tea and flowers. Every Saturday.

Add to that lots of yoga, biking to work and weekend weightlifting and that’s my late summer life in a nutshell.

Ironically, I’ve been working with a programmer to update my blog (check it out on the web), so I’m excited to make some changes soon and come back better than ever.
