Best of 2016: Introspection

Self help. I love it.

Here are the quotes I curated over the year that still stick with me. Along with Tara Brach, I also love On Being with Krista Tippett.  Most of these thoughts came from these two podcasts.

  • Add little things to your day to feed your soul, uplift you and move you
  • Mental bandwidth check-in: what are you thinking about most of the time?
  • Long stretches of silence are what marks our lives
  • There is an inner fountain of joy available to us at all times
  • Sit. take deep breaths. ask yourself: what do I take for granted?
  • The most uncomfortable situations cause the most amount of growth
  • Every time I think I have a problem, I decide there isn’t one
  • Get beyond the false narrative in your mind. We’re addicted to the stories we tell ourselves (and we always have the leading role). Move from your thoughts to what’s really happening.
  • I have no time to rush (this is a fleeting life and we rush through it)
  • For unpleasant situations, tell yourself: May this serve to awaken. This is part of the path and it has the potential to teach me
  • You have not grown old and it’s not too late to dive into your increasing depths where life calmly gives out its own secret
  • All you have time for is this. Because there’s nothing else than this. If something rushes or stresses you, that’s not a problem unless you make it a problem for you.
  • When we let silence exist, it feeds our soul
